SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Citadel’s Hayden Brown has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week presented by GEICO for all contests from Feb. 9-15 after posting a pair of double-doubles for the Bulldogs. The award is selected by the league office.
 
Brown averaged 17.0 points and 13.5 rebounds per game on the week as The Citadel downed ETSU 79-71 and dropped a 70-66 decision at Chattanooga.
 
Against the Bucs on Wednesday, Brown scored 21 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for his 10^th double-double of the season. The redshirt junior from Greer, South Carolina, was 8-for-11 (.727) from the floor on the evening and added six assists, two blocked shots and two steals. The win was The Citadel’s 10^th at home this season, its most since the 2008-09 season, and its first over ETSU in Charleston, South Carolina, since Feb. 26, 2015.
 
Three days later at Chattanooga, Brown logged his league-leading 11^th double-double of the season, scoring 13 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. He added five assists, a blocked shot and a steal.
 
Brown leads the SoCon in scoring (20.2 points per game) and rebounding (11.0 rebounds per game) and is the only SoCon player averaging a double-double on the season. His 11 double-doubles are tied for sixth in Division I.
 
The Citadel (11-8, 4-8 SoCon) visits Wofford (12-8, 9-5) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. before returning home to host military rival VMI (11-10, 6-6) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
