SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Andrea Aceveda has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Feb. 3-9. The selection is made by the conference office.
This week’s SoCon Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week Aceveda led the Furman Paladins in two conference matches at The Citadel with a total of 44 digs and 5.50 digs per set. On Feb. 7, the libero tallied a match-high 20 digs in the series opener with a service ace in Furman’s 3-0 win. The next day, she recorded a season-high 24 digs as the Paladins held on for a five-set win against the Bulldogs.
The Brentwood, Tennessee, sophomore holds a 3.84 grade point average and has an undeclared major.
The Paladins (2-2, 2-2- SoCon) are off this weekend before playing at Chattanooga (4-2, 2-2) on Feb. 21 and Feb. 22.
