Wofford's Carman named SoCon Player of the Week

Senior guard averaged 22.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and shot 68.2 percent in a pair of wins

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford’s Jackie Carman has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week presented by GEICO for games played Dec. 7-13 after averaging 22 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game and shooting 68.2 percent from the floor in a pair of wins. The award is selected by the league office.

Carman, a senior, scored 18 points, tied for the game high, in just 18 minutes of play in a 101-37 win over Brevard on Dec. 8. The guard went 7-for-10 from the floor and a perfect 2-of-2 from both 3-point range and the free-throw line, adding four rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals in the win. Carman’s hot hand continued in a 78-65 win at App State on Dec. 12 as she finished with a game-high and career-high 26 points. The native of Twinsburg, Ohio, went 8-for-12 (66.7 percent) from the field, including 5-of-7 from beyond the arc, and added six rebounds in 37 minutes of action.

Wofford (4-6) plays at Clemson on Friday, Dec. 17, before returning home to take on Northern Kentucky on Monday, Dec. 20.
