SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Tereza Melecka has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from Oct. 27-Nov. 2. The selection is made by the conference office.  

Melecka, a senior from Belcovice, Czech Republic, earned individual medalist honors for the second time this season at the Inaugural Grandover Fall Classic that was hosted by UNCG in Greensboro, North Carolina. She averaged 71.33 strokes through three rounds on the par-72 course.  

Melecka opened the tournament on Monday with three straight birdies and finished the first round with a 74 (+2). During the second round, which was also played on Monday, she posted an even-par 72 to finish the day in third, behind teammates Alex Crafton and Hollie Muse. Melecka rallied for the win during Tuesday’s final round with a 4-under-par 68 to become the only golfer in the 71-player field to finish below par with a 2-under-par 214.  

Her five-stroke victory, which is her sixth collegiate win, helped lead the Bucs to their second win of the season. Melecka led the tournament field in par-5 scoring (-6) and her 12 birdies were tied for the lead. 

This marks Melecka’s second weekly honor of the season and fifth of her career. She is now one of only four SoCon women’s golfers to earn the weekly accolade at least five times.

The Bucs concluded fall action and will open the spring season on Feb. 18 at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational in Greensboro, Georgia.
