SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s women’s golfer Tereza Melecka has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Oct. 27 to Nov. 2. The selection is made by the conference office.


Melecka earned individual medalist honors for the second time this season following her 2-under-par 214 performance last week at the Grandover Fall Classic hosted by UNCG in Greensboro, North Carolina. In Monday’s opening round, Melecka posted three straight birdies and finished the first round with a 74 (+2) before posting an even-par 72 to finish the day in third, behind teammates Alex Crafton and Hollie Muse. She entered the third round three shots back of Crafton, but carded a 4-under 68 in the final round to move her to first place in the 71-player field. The native of Bolcevice, Czech Republic, led the tournament field in par-5 scoring (-6) and her 12 birdies on the tournament were tied for the most in the field. Her five-stroke victory, which is her sixth collegiate win, helped lead the Bucs to their second win of the season. Malecka was also named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from Oct. 27-Nov. 2, which marks her second weekly honor of the season and fifth of her career.

The graduate student maintains a 3.36 grade point average and is pursuing her master’s degree in business administration.
 
The Bucs concluded fall action and will open the spring season on Feb. 18 at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational in Greensboro, Georgia.
