SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Campbell’s Josh Heil has been named the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for all competition from Nov. 17-23. The selection is made by the league office.
 
Heil clinched two more wins over ranked opponents on the road this past weekend, including a 4-2 decision over Virginia’s No. 29 Jarod Verkleeren, as well as a 2-1 victory over North Carolina’s No. 6 Zach Sherman. Against the Cavaliers, Heil handed Campbell a 9-3 advantage in the dual with the decision over Verkleeren, helping lead the Camels to their 21-15 win over the Cavaliers, Virginia’s first loss this season, to mark their first win over an ACC program since topping Duke in 2013. In the match against 14^th-ranked UNC, the graduate wrestler, who is ranked No. 16, struck first with a second period escape point, but UNC's Sherman answered with an escape of his own to tie the score 1-1 at the start of the third frame. The score remained 1-1 through regulation until Heil secured the win following a Sherman violation in the sudden victory round. The Brunswick, Ohio, native is now 4-0 on the season, with all four wins coming against nationally ranked opponents, and following his two performances, earns his second SoCon Wrestler of the Week honor this season.
 
The Camels (3-2, 0-0 SoCon) travel to Boiling Springs, North Carolina, for a tri-meet at Gardner-Webb on Sunday, Dec. 19, beginning their Southern Conference slate with a match against the Runnin' Bulldogs. Campbell will also match up against Ohio.
