SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Tierra Hodges has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week presented by GEICO for games played Nov. 16-22 after averaging 15.5 points and 13.0 rebounds per game and recording a pair of double-doubles in two games played as the Paladins went 3-0 on the week. The award is selected by the league office.

Hodges, a guard/forward scored, 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in just 16 minutes of play against Converse on Nov. 17. She added two assists and a steal in a 101-58 win over the Valkyries. Three days later, the native of Covington, Georgia, played all 40 minutes in a 64-49 win over UNC Asheville, scoring 20 points and pulling down a team-high 16 rebounds, earning her third double-double of the young season and her 18^th in the last 29 contests. Hodges, a preseason all-conference selection, added three assists and three steals in Furman’s second straight win

For the week, the fifth-year went 11-of-24 (.458) from the floor and 9-of-10 from the free-throw line.

After three consecutive home games, Furman (4-1) hits the road for three straight contests, beginning with two games in Berkeley, California, as part of the Raising the B.A.R. Invitational hosted by Cal. The Paladins play Cal on Friday, Nov. 26, at 4 p.m. ET and will take on either San Diego State or Ole Miss on Saturday, Nov. 27.
