SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Ten Southern Conference football student-athletes earned spots on the CoSIDA Academic All-District teams Thursday. Chattanooga led the way with seven selections.
The Citadel, Furman and Mercer had one selection each. A list of the SoCon’s selections is below.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s games at the position for which they are nominated and must have completed one full calendar year at their current institutions, with the exception of graduate students who are competing at a different institution than the one from which they earned their undergraduate degree, who are eligible even if in their first semesters at their graduate institutions.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-December.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District® teams are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
