SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford women’s soccer player Mary Raymond has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Nov. 10-16. The selection is made by the conference office.
 
Raymond lifted the Bulldogs past Auburn on Friday, Nov. 12, in Auburn, Alabama, netting an eventual game-winning goal in the second half to clinch the 2-0 victory over the Tigers in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The junior midfielder netted the goal in the 61^st minute of the contest to break the scoreless tie and hand Samford a 1-0 advantage. The Palm Harbor, Florida, native registered her first game-winner on the season for a total of nine goals, while also recording a total of four assists this season.
 
The senior maintains a 3.98 grade point average and is pursuing a degree in kinesiology.
 
With the win over Auburn, the Bulldogs (16-3-2, 9-0-0 SoCon) advance to the second round of the NCAA tournament and will travel to Durham, North Carolina, on Friday, Nov. 19, to take on St. John’s at 4 p.m. ET.
