SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference named its volleyball players of the week Monday for games played Nov. 8-14. UNCG outside hitter Kayla White was named the Offensive Player of the Week, Spartan libero Jenna Wiggs has been named Defensive Player of the Week, and Wofford setter Emily Hodsdon has been tabbed as the Setter of the Week. The players of the week are selected by the league office and are the final of the 2021 season. 
 
White averaged 4.57 kills per set and 4.57 digs per set as the Spartans went 2-0 and earned a share of the SoCon regular-season title. On Wednesday, the graduate student led all players with 16 kills as the Spartans swept Western Carolina. She hit .452 and added 15 digs, earning her 20^th double-double of the season, and two block assists and one service ace. In Saturday’s regular-season finale, the native of Montgomery, Alabama, tallied a match-high 16 kills, adding 17 digs and earning another double-double and contributing three service aces and four block assists in a four-set win at The Citadel.
 
Wiggs averaged 6.43 digs per set in the pair of Spartan wins. Against the Catamounts, the senior from Gainesville, Florida, led the Spartans with 22 digs, tied for the match high, and added five assists in the sweep. At The Citadel, Wiggs led all players with 23 digs.
 
Hodson averaged 12.29 assists as Wofford went 1-1 with a win at ETSU and a loss at Chattanooga. The Alpharetta, Georgia, native dished out a match-high 51 assists, her seventh contest this season with 50-plus assists, in a four-set win over the Bucs on Friday. She added nine digs, five kills, three service aces, and four blocks in a well-rounded performance. On Saturday, the sophomore tallied 35 assists and 10 digs, earning her ninth double-double of the season, in a 3-0 loss at Chattanooga.
 
UNCG (23-6, 12-4 SoCon) earned the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Southern Conference Volleyball Championship and will take on No. 7 seed The Citadel (11-11, 7-9) in the quarterfinals on Friday, Nov. 19, at 5 p.m. CT in Birmingham, Alabama. Wofford (15-13, 9-7), the No. 4 seed, battles No. 5 seed Western Carolina (11-16, 7-9) in the first quarterfinal match, set for 11:30 a.m. CT.   
 
Also nominated for offensive player of the week: Sara Esposito (ETSU), Bella Tolone (Furman), Jaida Howell (Mercer), Kenya McQuirter (Samford), Maia Rackel (Chattanooga), Bailey Hartsough (Western Carolina) and Sarah MacLean (Wofford).

Also nominated for defensive player of the week: Abbey Thomas (ETSU), Andrea Aceveda (Furman), Megan Smith (Mercer), Andie Salasky (Samford), Marcelle Baez-Carlo (Chattanooga), Destinee Dorsey (Western Carolina) and Kaitlyn Brown (Wofford).

Also nominated for setter of the week: Sarah Turner (Furman), Agnieska Paskevic (Mercer), Gabriela McHugh (UNCG), Kayla Keshock (Samford), Sophia Bossong (Chattanooga) and Sydney Carlson (Western Carolina).
