WCU's McNally named to CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team

First-team All-SoCon defender recognized on District III squad

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women’s soccer graduate transfer Natalie McNally has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District III First Team. She was the only women’s soccer player from the Southern Conference to get an all-district nod.

This is the second consecutive CoSIDA all-district honor for McNally from two different districts. She was an all-district 5 selection in her final year at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) in the 2021 spring season.

McNally, a defender from Grayslake, Ill., graduated from IUPUI with a 3.98 GPA in health science and is pursuing her master’s degree while playing in the fall of 2021 at Western Carolina.

She was a 2021 All-Southern Conference First Team selection helping the Catamounts’ defensive back line record recording nine shutouts on the season. She helped the team reach the semi-finals of the SoCon Championship for the first time since 2017 and assisted the team picking up 11 victories on the season.

The 2021 Academic All-District® Women’s Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
