GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman sophomore forward Nieva Gaither has received her second honor of the week by being selected to Top Drawer Soccer’s Team of the Week following her performance in the Paladins’ final two games of the regular season at Mercer and The Citadel.
A native of Lilburn, Georgia, Gaither earned her second straight SoCon Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honor on Tuesday. For the second consecutive week, Gaither led the Paladins offensively with three goals for a total of six points. Furman recorded another 2-0 record for the week with wins at Mercer and The Citadel as it locked up the No. 2 seed for the upcoming Southern Conference Women's Soccer Championship.
Against the Bears on Oct. 22, Gaither netted two goals, one of which came on a penalty kick, in a 4-3 win. Two days later, she scored the game-winner in a 4-0 victory over The Citadel.
This season, Gaither ranks second on the team with 21 points on eight goals and five assists.
The Paladins host The Citadel on Friday at 5:30 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the SoCon Women’s Soccer Championship.
