Mercer’s Dubnik named Women’s Golfer of the Week

Finished third at the White Sands Invitational; Recorded first under-par round of her career

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer’s Mikayla Dubnik has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from Oct. 20-26. The selection is made by the conference office.  

Dubnik, a freshman from Murrayville, Georgia, placed third at the White Sands Invitational in Paradise Island, Bahamas. She averaged 70.33 strokes through three rounds on the par-72 course.  

Dubnik, who competed as an individual, opened the tournament with a 2-under-par 70 on Friday, marking the first time in her collegiate career that she’s recorded a round under par. On Saturday, she fired a 1-over-par 73 before concluding the White Sands Invitational on Sunday with a 4-under-par 68 that was the third-lowest score of the day. Dubnik tied for the lead in the field of 43 players with a 4.50 average on par 5s. She finished with 38 pars and 11 birdies throughout the tournament. 

  

This marks Dubnik’s first weekly honor her career. 

Mercer returns to action on Monday, Nov. 8, when the Bears host the Mercer Invitational in Macon, Georgia, at the Brickyard Golf Club.
