SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer volleyball player Annie Karle
has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Oct. 20-26. The selection is made by the conference office.
Karle averaged 2.86 kills and 5.14 digs per set as Mercer split a pair of matches on the week. At Wofford on Oct. 22, the senior from Flanders, New Jersey, earned a double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs in a 3-1 loss. The following day, Karle, an outside hitter, tallied nine kills and 21 digs in a three-set sweep at The Citadel.
Karle maintains a 3.953 grade point average and is pursuing a degree in accounting.
The Bears (12-9, 8-2 SoCon) host UNCG (19-4, 8-2) on Friday, Oct. 29, and Western Carolina (10-11, 6-4) the following day.
