CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - It's a historic day for the Chattanooga Mocs men's tennis program as the doubles duo of Tomas Rodriguez and Peyton Gatti earned an at-large berth into the 2021 ITA Fall National Championships held in San Diego, California November 4-7.

It marks the first time in program history that UTC will send representatives to the event. Rodriguez and Gatti picked up the selection after finishing runner-up at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships last month.

"It's with great enthusiasm that we announce the doubles selection of Tomas and Peyton to the ITA Fall National Championships in San Diego the first week of November," said head coach Chuck Merzbacher.

"This is a major accomplishment for our program and those two have a lot to be proud of."

Rodriguez and Gatti made waves at last month's ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship after rolling to the program's first ever championship match appearance in that specific tournament.

The tandem took down the duo of Oscar Cutting and David Stevenson of Memphis, the fifth-ranked doubles team in the nation, in the semifinals to earn a spot in the title match. For the fall season, Rodriguez and Gatti have complied a 7-1 record playing as a team.
