SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman’s Anna Morgan has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from Oct. 13-19. The selection is made by the conference office.
Morgan tied for eighth at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational at Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on Oct. 15-17. She averaged 70.33 strokes through three rounds on the par-72 course.
Morgan, who ranks second in the SoCon with a 70.56 stroke average over nine rounds, recorded all three rounds under par and carded a 5-under-par 211 to secure her eighth-place finish on Sunday. In round one on Friday, she posted a 1-under-par 71 with a team-high four birdies and completed round two with a second consecutive 1-under 71. During Sunday’s final round, Morgan teed off on No. 8 in the shotgun start. She finished with a team-best 69 (-3) and led Furman to the final round’s second-lowest score in the 19-team field, posting a 286 to tie for 11th.
This marks Morgan’s second weekly honor of the season and third of her career.
Furman will travel next to the Landfall Tradition on Oct. 29-31 in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the Landfall Golf Club Dye Course.
Also nominated: Madison Isaacson (Western Carolina) and Becca Earl (Wofford).
