SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Tereza Melecka has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from Oct. 6-12. The selection is made by the conference office.  

Tereza claimed her fifth career individual medalist honor at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, at the Highlands Ranch Golf Club from Oct. 8-10. She averaged 69.0 strokes through three rounds on the par-72 course.  

Tereza, a senior from Belcovice, Czech Republic, shot a 9-under-par 207 and posted three straight rounds under-par, including a final-round 4-under-par 68 to win the tournament by five strokes. She opened the first round with a 69 (-3) to help lead the Bucs to a school-record single-round score of 17-under-par 271 on Friday. After completing round two on Saturday, she shared the 36-hole lead with San Francisco’s Toni Sottile, before breaking away from the 86-player field in Sunday’s final round. 

Six of Melecka’s tournament-leading 17 birdies were registered on the final day when she took the lead. The reigning Southern Conference Golfer of the Year led the field in par-3 scoring with an average of 2.67, while she posted a 3.97 average on the par-4s. She has finished in the top five in six of her last seven tournaments and has two wins in her last five outings.  

This marks Melecka’s fourth golfer of the week honor, making her the eighth women’s golfer in conference history to earn the honor at least four times in her career. 

ETUS will travel next to the Grandover Fall Classic on Nov. 1-2, which is hosted by UNCG in Greensboro, North Carolina.
