SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford women’s soccer player Alyssa Frazier has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Oct. 6-12. The selection is made by the conference office.
 
Frazier tallied one goal and added three assists in Samford’s two SoCon wins last week, including a 3-1 win over Wofford on Friday and a 4-0 victory over Furman on Sunday. In the Bulldogs’ win over the Terriers, the senior midfielder assisted on two goals, first in the 24^th minute when she delivered the ball into the box off the corner for a Kylie Gazza header shot to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead. She also helped Samford extend its lead to 3-0 by assisting on a score in the 57^th minute. In the Bulldogs’ victory over Furman, she battled a Paladin to draw a foul in the box and converted the ensuing penalty kick in the 22^nd minute to give Samford a 2-0 lead. The Towanda, Illinois, native is tied for the team lead in goals with five and currently leads the team in assists, totaling seven for a team-high 17 points.
 
Frazier maintains a 4.00 grade point average and is majoring in nutrition.
 
The Bulldogs (9-3-2, 6-0-0 SoCon) will travel to Cullowhee, North Carolina, for a match against Western Carolina (8-5-1, 3-2-0 SoCon) at 7 p.m. ET on Friday.
