GREENSBORO, N.C. –The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s soccer team is ranked 16th in the latest United Soccer Coaches’ Top 25 poll.

The Spartans (9-2-1 overall) climbed three places after defeating Furman, 3-0, over the weekend in a Southern Conference contest. In addition, UNCG remained fourth in the South Region for the second straight week.

The Spartans got goals from J.C. Ngando, Joey Skinner, and Daniel Mangarov. Skinner and Basile Marc had assists in the victory which ended with Niclas Wild registering his seventh clean sheet of the season.

Skinner was selected to the College Soccer News Team of the Week Monday.

UNCG has won six consecutive games as part of a dominant eight-match unbeaten streak in which it has outscored opponents, 28-1.

The Spartans lead the country in goals (35) and points (102). They are second in shutout percentage (.667), scoring offense (2.92), and goal differential (27). UNCG is third in points per game (8.50), fourth in assists (32), fifth in shots on goal per game (7.58), and seventh in assists per game (2.67).

Sophomore forward Theo Collomb leads UNCG with 11 goals. He is one of 13 different players who have scored at least one goal this season for the Spartans, who have outscored their three SoCon opponents, 13-0. At least eight UNCG players have at least two goals. Skinner leads the SoCon with six assists.

UNCG returns to action Saturday afternoon when it travels to Belmont for a first-place showdown and rematch of last season’s SoCon Tournament championship match. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. Eastern Time/5 p.m. Central Time.
