GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman women’s soccer student-athlete Isabella Gutierrez has been named one of 30 candidates for the 2021 Senior CLASS Award, it was recently announced.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior or graduate student and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character, and competition.

Gutierrez, a senior from Statesboro, Ga., is the reigning Southern Conference Player of the Year and was named to the Hermann Trophy Watch List prior to the season. She has started in six games this season for the Paladins and has five points on one goal and three assists.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. Outside of academics and athletics, all candidates have also been consistently involved in community service on their campus or in their communities.

The women’s soccer candidate class will be narrowed to 10 finalists later in the season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot.

The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2021 NCAA Women’s College Cup in December.
