Mercer's Cummings named Student-Athlete of the Week

Surpassed the 20-point mark in back-to-back games

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Mercer men’s basketball player Ross Cummings has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Dec. 29-Jan. 5. The selection is made by the conference office.
 
Cummings surpassed the 20-point mark in back-to-back games and eclipsed both 1,000 career points and 200 career made 3-pointers against Wofford. The redshirt senior guard needed just 12 shots to score 21 points. Cummings scored 22 points against the Furman Paladins and knocked down 6-of-14 shots including four 3-pointers. He leads the Bears in points per game with an average of 16.6.
 
The Dickson, Tennessee, native holds a 3.9 grade point average and is earning his master’s in higher education leadership.
 
The Bears return to the court Jan. 9, when they travel to Greensboro, North Carolina, to battle UNCG at 2 p.m. for the squad’s third conference game of the season.
