SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Campbell’s Austin Murphy has been named the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for all competition from Jan. 20-26. The selection is made by the league office.
 
Murphy picked up a 5-4 decision over App State’s No. 14 Thomas Flitz at 174 pounds, with the upset leading to the Camels’ 21-17 win over the SoCon preseason favorite Mountaineers. Murphy was unranked before the win over Flitz, and is now ranked No. 18. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native remains undefeated on the season going 2-0 on Saturday to help Campbell extend its SoCon dual winning streak to 12 matches. Campbell trailed App State 17-3 leading into Murphy’s matchup with Flitz before the final four weight classes won their respective matches. The junior also registered a pin in the day’s finale against Gardner-Webb’s Sam Mora in 5:45, helping the Camels top the Runnin’ Bulldogs 38-6. He is now 6-0 on the season, including a 5-0 dual mark. 
 
Campbell (4-1, 3-0 SoCon) travels to Charleston, South Carolina, on Jan. 30 for a conference matchups against The Citadel (4-2, 3-1) and Davidson (1-3, 1-3).
