SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Citadel’s Michael McAleavey has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all competition from Jan. 13-19. The selection is made by the conference office.
 
McAleavey continued his strong start to the season with a 3-1 decision over Chattanooga’s Grayson Walthall and a 2:01 fall against Gardner-Webb’s Gabe Picket on Sunday. The recent graduate improved his season record to 7-1 with the two conference victories last week. 
 
The Venetia, Pennsylvania, native graduated in December and holds a 3.83 grade point average as he begins his first semester working on his Master of Business Administration.
 
The Bulldogs will travel to Louisville, Kentucky, on Sunday, Jan. 24, to compete against Presbyterian and host Bellarmine at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., respectively.
