SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Campbell’s Caleb Hopkins has been named the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for all competition from Jan. 13-19. The selection is made by the league office.
Hopkins earned a pair of wins Saturday as the Camels swept Ohio and VMI in Lexington, Virginia. The Palmer, Alaska, native won a 16-3 major decision over Ohio’s Carson Brewer, placing four points on the board against the Bobcats. Hopkins went on to record the team’s only pin of day, topping VMI’s Chase Meilnik in 3:46 at 184 pounds. He is now 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.
