Macon, Ga. - Sophomore midfielder Dylan Gaither of the Mercer men’s soccer team was recognized as a member of TopDrawer Soccer’s Team of the Week, the organization announced on Wednesday. 
 
Gaither wasted no time putting the Bears in the lead as he played a quick free kick from just outside the box 1:45 into the contest. The shot stunned the GSU defense that was still getting into position as the ball curled inside the right post to give Mercer an early advantage. It was the first game-winning goal of his career. 
 
The Lilburn, Ga., native has now scored the first goal against Georgia Southern in each of the past two seasons. Gaither has been one of the most active players for Mercer in the attacking third, leading the team with nine shots and five shots on goal while ranking second on the team with three points. 
 
The Bears return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Georgia State for their first road contest of the fall. The match is set to kickoff at 7 p.m. at the GSU Soccer Complex.
