SoCon Goes Pro: NFL Week 3

SoConSports.com will provide weekly notes of former SoCon players throughout the NFL season

For the third straight week, Jerick McKinnon (Georgia Southern) made it into the end zone to put six points on the board for the San Francisco 49ers. McKinnon is making a memorable comeback after missing his last two seasons. He continues to prove that he is an asset to the 49ers offense with 17 touches, his most since Week 11 of 2017.

Jaquiski Tartt (49ers/Samford) had two solo tackles and a pass defended on defense in the 36-9 win over the New York Giants. Tartt helped teammate Fred Warner make an interception by calling out the Giants’ offense before the snap, according to Warner.

McKinnon made sure to cheer on former Georgia Southern teammate Matt Breida before the Miami Dolphins’ 31-13 home win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday Night Football.

Buster Skrine (Chattanooga) was back at it again with five solo tackles in the Bears’ 30-26 win over the Falcons. He will enter Week 4 with the third-most solo tackles (13) on the team. His defensive play helped just enough to keep the Bears undefeated as they face the Colts this week.

Younghoe Koo (Georgia Southern) put eight points on the board for the Falcons this week when he went 2-for-3 on field goals and converted a pair of extra points in Atlanta’s 30-26 loss to the Bears.

The Citadel’s Andre Roberts returned two kickoffs for the Bills, averaging 36.5 yards. Roberts has been impressive on special teams through Week 3.

Nick Williams (Samford) made two solo tackles with one assist in the Lions’ 26-23 win over the Cardinals.
