Samford’s James Bradberry is the name to know after he made his first interception of the season during the New York Giants’ 17-13 loss to the Chicago Bears. The play he made led to a 37-yard Giants field goal. Bradberry racked up four solo tackles, an interception and four passes defended on the day.
Former Chattanooga wide receiver C.J Board made three receptions for 32 yards in his second appearance on the Giants, after playing for Jacksonville last season.
Buster Skrine (Chattanooga) marked a season-high five solo tackles for the Bears in the win. The Bears are 2-0 going into next week’s matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, in which Skrine and Younghoe Koo (Georgia Southern) will meet.
Koo and the Falcons fought to the finish in their 40-39, last-second loss at Dallas. Koo remained perfect on field-goal attempts this season, going 4-for-4, and was 3-for-3 on point-after tries. Koo will head into week three against the Bears 29-for-32 on field-goal attempts in his career as a Falcon.
49ers running back Jerick McKinnon (Georgia Southern) finished week two with three carries for 77 yards and one touchdown in San Francisco’s 31-13 win over the New York Jets. One of the highlights of his day came when he rushed for 55 yards on third-and-31 to gain an improbable 49ers first down.
In the fourth quarter, “Jet” turned on his jets for an 18-yard touchdown.
Jaquiski Tartt (Samford) continued to hold it down on the 49ers’ defense with four solo tackles, adding on the three he had last week.
Matt Breida (Georgia Southern) had seven carries for 37 yards in his first Hard Rock Stadium showing as a Dolphin in Miami’s 33-28 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Breida and the Dolphins will make their Thursday Night Football debut this week when they visit the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Andre Roberts (The Citadel) continued to show out on the Bills’ special teams squad this week with two punt returns for 18 yards.
The Denver Broncos’ Sam Martin (Appalachian State) had four punts averaging 42.3 yards in a 26-21 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
