CHICAGO – Eight Southern Conference football student-athletes earned spots on the Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America Team, the organization announced Wednesday. The Citadel boasted a league-best three total picks, including two of the SoCon’s four first-team selections.
 
The 2020 Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America Team features 101 players from 56 schools and all 13 FCS conferences. The schools include those playing this fall or in the spring.
 
Citadel linebacker Willie Eubanks III and running back Alex Ramsey earned first-team spots, while quarterback Brandon Rainey was a third-team pick at all-purpose. Eubanks, the reigning SoCon Defensive Player of the Year, and Ramsey, who led the league in rushing at VMI last season, were second-team Stats All-Americans in 2019.
 
Samford punt returner Montrell Washington – a first-team All-American in 2019 – and ETSU all-purpose back Quay Holmes rounded out the league’s first-team picks.
 
Chattanooga’s Chris James claimed the second-team spot at tight end, while Furman had a pair of third-team selections in running back Devin Wynn and defensive lineman Adrian Hope.
