SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Former Wofford men’s basketball player Cameron Jackson will continue his professional career in Portugal, signing with Sport Lisboa Benfica.
“I’m excited to be able to play this year,” Jackson said of signing with S.L. Benfica. “It’s a huge blessing to be able to have a job during this pandemic, and I have to thank God for that.”
S.L. Benfica is located in Lisbon, Portugal, and competes in the Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol, which is the top league in the country.
“I’m happy to be a part of this successful program,” Jackson said.
The 2019 graduate spent his first year in the Basketball Bundesliga in Germany, averaging 7.6 points and 3.4 rebounds with Syntainics MBC, before finishing the season with Ludwigsburg, where he averaged 5.8 points on 47.3 percent shooting from the field.
Jackson, who was a member of two Southern Conference championship teams (2015, 2019), helped the 2018-19 Terriers to 30 wins, and undefeated SoCon season (18-0) and the program’s first win in the NCAA tournament when they defeated Seton Hall 84-68 in the first round of the Jacksonville Regional. The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 14.5 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while being named first-team All-SoCon and the league’s Player of the Month in December of his senior season, ending his career 19th on the Terriers’ all-time scoring list with 1,399 points and third with 125 blocks.
