GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman basketball standout Jordan Lyons has inked a contract to join BK Ogre in the Latvian Basketball League, it was announced this past weekend.
The senior averaged a team-leading 16.4 points per game this past season to pace the Paladins to a 25-7 overall record and a second-place finish in the Southern Conference standings with a 15-3 league mark. The Lou Henson Mid-Major All-America selection, NABC All-District 21 choice and first-team All-SoCon pick completed his career with a school-record 288 3-point baskets and ranked 15th in Furman history with 1,529 career points.
“The opportunity to keep playing at the professional level is a true blessing,” said Lyons, who drained an NCAA-record 15 3-pointers versus North Greenville during his junior season. “I can’t thank the Lord and the people who have poured into me over the years enough for helping my lifelong dream come true. I’m excited about the opportunity with BK Ogre and I am super thankful they believe in me. I can’t wait to get to Latvia and get my career started.”
Ogre posted a 22-3 record and finished second in the Latvian Basketball League last season. The 2020-21 season is set to begin in late August.
Lyons guided Furman to one of its most successful seasons in history in 2019-20 with a school-record 25 wins and a fourth consecutive season with 23 or more victories. Furman finished ranked No. 14 in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25, No. 74 in the NCAA Evaluation Tool (NET) Rankings and No. 81 in the Pomeroy Ratings (KenPom.com). The school’s all-time winningest player, Lyons concluded his four-year career with a school-record 96 victories as a Paladin.
