CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel’s Douglas Gudenburr and Noah Nawabi have been named to the 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 Men’s At-Large First Team, it was announced by the organization Thursday afternoon.
 
To be considered for the award, an athlete must have maintained a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.30 through his championship season and be a significant contributor on his team.
 
Gudenburr, who graduated on May 2 with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, ended his undergraduate career with a GPA of 3.83. A member of the wrestling team, Gudenburr has already begun working on two master’s degrees, including an MBA and a master’s in mechanical engineering.
 
Gudenburr recorded 51 wins in his four-year career, including five wins by major decision. He wrestled in the 141-, 149-, 157- and 165-pound weight classes, including exclusively at 157 this season.
 
A member of the men’s tennis program, Nawabi graduated earlier this month with a degree in biology, while boasting a 3.94 GPA.
 
Nawabi has served as the team captain the last two seasons and ended his career with 42 singles wins. This season, Nawabi won seven singles matchups, mostly at No. 3, before the season was cut short.
 
The 2020 Academic All-District® Men’s and Women’s At-Large Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom.
 
The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and the NAIA.
 
Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District® will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced from June 16-19.
