Manheim, PA – The National Wrestling Coaches Association announced the 2020 Division I All-American teams today, with six Southern Conference wrestlers honored.  Each year the NWCA recognizes the outstanding work of the DI Student-Athletes by naming the All-Americans based on their achievements in the national championship, however, this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic the championships were canceled.
 
All-American honors were based on each wrestler’s overall body of work through the conference tournaments and up to the national championships.
 
Campbell’s Josh Heil (141) and Andrew Morgan (184) were the two first-team All-Americans after both were victorious in their respective weight classes at the 2020 Southern Conference Wrestling Championships. Heil posted an impressive record of 29-4 with a 7-3 mark in duals and three pins, while Morgan went 30-5 overall and 11-1 in duals with six pins.
 
On the second team, Campbell’s Noah Gonser (133) and VMI’s Neal Richards (174) were honored after both took titles at the SoCon championships. Gonser, the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Year, posted records of 30-5 overall and 10-2 in duals and 12 wins by fall. Richards, the 2020 SoCon Wrestling Championships co-Most Outstanding Wrestler, finished the season with a 38-7 overall record and 17-2 mark in duals with five pins on the year.
 
Campbell’s Quentin Perez (165) and Jere Heino (285) were the final SoCon wrestlers included, with both being named to the honorable mention team. Perez was the 165-pound champion at the SoCon championships and posted an overall record of 26-6 and dual record of 10-2 with five pins. Heino notched a second-place finish at the SoCon championships and went 24-5 overall and 10-2 in duals with seven pins.
