BOSTON – UNCG men's basketball guard Isaiah Miller was named to the 2019-20 Lefty Driesell Defensive All-America Team, CollegeInsider.com announced Tuesday.
 
Merrimack's Juvaris Hayes is the 2019-20 recipient of the Lefty Driesell Award, given annually to the nation’s best defensive player.
 
The Lefty Driesell All-American honor is doled out to the top defensive players in the country and is named after 2018 Basketball Hall of Fame coach Lefty Driesell. One of only three coaches to take four different teams to the NCAA tournament, Driesell's teams were known for their tenacious defense, finishing his coaching career ranked eighth on the Division I victories list.
 
A junior guard out of Covington, Georgia, Miller is the 2019-20 SoCon Player of the Year and has won back-to-back SoCon Defensive Player of the Year honors. The first-ever SoCon player to earn Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season, Miller has taken first-team All-SoCon honors for the last two years.
 
An NABC All-District 21 selection, Miller finished second in the nation with 89 steals in 2019-20 and his 241 career steals are a program record, beating Spartan alum Ricky Hickman's previous record of 236. Miller currently ranks 10th in program history with 1,410 career points and fourth with 594 field goals.
