SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Furman attack Brett Tenaglia and Richmond goalkeeper Jack Rusbuldt have been named the Southern Conference men’s lacrosse offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, for all games March 3-9. The awards are selected by the league office.
 
Furman’s Tenaglia scored five points in the Paladins’ 18-11 loss to No. 3 North Carolina on Friday, scoring three goals for his first career hat trick and adding a pair of assists. Two of Tenaglia’s goals game in the second quarter as the Paladins outscored the Tar Heels 3-2 in the frame to enter halftime trailing just 4-3. The freshman from New Fairfield, Connecticut, picked up his first assist of the contest on Furman’s first goal of the third quarter and scored the Paladins’ next one to complete his hat trick and pull the squad within two at 7-5. Tenaglia would earn another assist in the fourth quarter.
 
Rusbuldt earned his second honor in three weeks after a pair of stingy performances in goal. In Richmond’s 14-7 win at Mount St. Mary’s on March 3, the junior from Richmond, Virginia, made 10 saves in the complete-game effort, facing 25 shots and posting a .588 save percentage. On Saturday at VMI in the league opener for both squads, Rusbuldt allowed just two goals in 45 minutes of work, notching nine saves against 17 shots faced, turning in an .818 save percentage. On the week, Rusbuldt fashioned a 5.14 goals-against average and a .679 save percentage, totaling 19 stops in 105 minutes of work. He also picked up three ground balls, grabbing one against Mount St. Mary’s and two against the Keydets.
 
Furman (1-5) returns to action Tuesday when it hosts No. 7 Penn State at 7 p.m., while 20^th-ranked Richmond (4-3, 1-0 SoCon) hosts Bellarmine (2-6, 0-0 SoCon) on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
