SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga’s Eboni Williams has been named the Southern Conference women’s basketball player of the week presented by GEICO for games played Jan. 28 to Feb. 3. The award is selected by the league office.
 
The sophomore forward scored 25 points and pulled down 16 rebounds, both game highs, in a 91-82 triple-overtime victory over ETSU in Johnson City, Tennessee, on Feb. 1. The double-double was the third of the year for the Hoover, Alabama, native. Thirteen of Williams’s points came in overtime periods, including two clutch free throws with 22 seconds remaining in the first overtime period, forcing a second. In total, she had six points, two rebounds and a steal in the first overtime before netting the first five points for Chattanooga in the second overtime. In the final overtime frame, Williams hit a layup that sparked a 9-0 Mocs run, allowing the Mocs to pull away and earn the win.
 
In league play, Williams is second amongst conference players in rebounding, averaging 11.5 per game.
 
After three straight road games, Chattanooga (5-16, 4-3 SoCon) returns to McKenzie Arena for the next two, hosting UNCG (16-6, 5-2) on Thursday, Feb. 6, and Western Carolina (4-18, 1-6) on Saturday.
