SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford’s Chevez Goodwin has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week presented by GEICO for all contests from Jan. 28 to Feb. 3 after leading the Terriers to a pair of league wins. The award is selected by the league office.
 
For the week, Goodwin averaged 20.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, shooting 76 percent from the floor (19-for-25).
 
Goodwin opened his week with a career-high 25 points in Wofford’s 79-56 win at The Citadel on Wednesday, going 11-for-12 (91.7 percent) from the floor and 3-for-4 (75 percent) from the free-throw line. Goodwin, who scored 19 of his points in the second half, also pulled down eight rebounds and had two assists in the win.
 
The forward/center from Blythewood, South Carolina, notched his third double-double of the season in the Terriers’ 80-56 win over Samford on Saturday, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Goodwin also added an assist and two blocked shots and was 8-for-13 (61.5 percent) from the field.
 
Goodwin leads the SoCon with a 62.8 field-goal percentage on the season, a mark that jumps to 72.4 in conference games.
 
Wofford (15-8, 7-3 SoCon) visits VMI (6-17, 1-9) on Wednesday before hosting Chattanooga (14-9, 5-5) on Saturday in the Ingles SoCon Game of the Week.
