The Southern Conference is one of the oldest and most prestigious NCAA Division I conferences in the country. It will celebrate its 100
th anniversary of athletic and academic excellence in 2020-21. It is comprised of 10 outstanding institutions located in the Southeast with its headquarters in beautiful Spartanburg, South Carolina.
The Director of Creative Services is responsible for enhancing brand awareness of the Conference through video, print graphics, social media, and fulfillment of corporate marketing and reports to the Commissioner. Duties also include event marketing and promotions, particularly the basketball and baseball championships. The position will be supported by the external operations assistant. Additional duties may be assigned by the Commissioner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To initiate, create and produce video segments/series for use on the website and as features for distribution to the media and to the membership. To effectively use all appropriate social media to promote the Conference, its coaches and student-athletes. To create and coordinate execution of marketing plans to promote Conference championships and other special events. To assist with the quality production of video-streamed championship events. work with various aspects of the conferences’ corporate sponsorship program. To produce graphics for use on the website, social media, at championship venues. To create banners and signage to enhance the Southern Conference brand. To identify potential corporate partners for graduate scholarships and assist the Associate Commissioner in creating marketing kits and deliverables. Other duties as assigned the Commissioner.
Preferred Qualifications and Minimum Requirements:
Undergraduate degree (essential), Master’s degree (preferred). Detailed knowledge of the Southern Conference, its 22 championship sports, and the workings of the NCAA and intercollegiate athletics. Attention to detail, accuracy in all work and strong written and communication skills. Ability to work with groups of administrators and conduct meetings. Commitment to serve Southern Conference membership. Knowledge of managing website content and designs, use of graphics and familiarity with internet technologies. Ability to effectively communicate with all forms of social media. Ability to interact with administrators, coaches and the general public. The ability to think creatively for solutions and strategies to benefit the Conference.
