SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford’s Sarah Myers has been named the Southern Conference women’s basketball player of the week presented by GEICO for games played Feb. 18-24. The award is selected by the league office.
 
The senior guard averaged 20.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per contest as Samford split a pair of road games. The Cumming, Georgia, native scored a career-high 27 points in a 76-60 win at ETSU on Feb. 20, shooting 61.1 percent (11-for-18) from the floor and pulling down 10 rebounds. Two days later, Myers added another double-double, finishing with 14 points and 11 rebounds, and adding six assists in a 64-58 loss at Chattanooga.
 
After three straight road games, Samford (13-14, 8-4 SoCon) returns home to host UNC Greensboro (20-7, 9-3) on Thursday, Feb. 27, before welcoming Western Carolina (5-22, 2-10) on Saturday in the regular-season finale.
