SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Campbell’s Jere Heino has been named the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for all competition Feb. 12-18. The selection is made by the league office.

The 14^th-ranked Heino notched a pair of wins at 285 pounds for the Camels last week, with both coming in SoCon duals. The redshirt senior from Helsinki, Finland, scored a big 3-2 decision over 24^th-ranked Cary Miller of Appalachian State on Feb. 13, helping the 20^th-ranked Camels to a 20-13 win over the Mountaineers. Heino then logged his fastest pin of the season, defeating VMI’s Robbie Adelstein in just 45 seconds to close Campbell’s 38-6 win on Feb. 15. Heino is now 21-4 overall and 10-2 in duals this season, including a perfect 6-0 mark in SoCon bouts.

The weekly award is the third of Heino’s career.

Campbell (10-2, 6-0 SoCon) will close out the regular season on Sunday, Feb. 23, when it travels to Davidson (3-11, 2-4 SoCon) for a 2 p.m. dual.
