ETSU's Bakhodirova named player of the week

Bakhodirova, a sophomore, went 2-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU’s Laylo Bakhodirova has been named the Southern Conference women’s tennis player of the week for all matches played Feb. 11-17, the conference office announced Tuesday.
 
Bakhodirova, a sophomore, went 2-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles as ETSU (3-4) defeated Cincinnati, 5-2, and fell 4-3 at Middle Tennessee.
 
In singles, the native of Tashkent, Uzbekistan, won 6-3, 6-2 in the top flight against Cincinnati and downed Middle Tennessee’s top player 6-1, 6-0, blanking an opponent in a set for the first time all season.
 
In doubles play, Bakhodirova and her partner Alejandra Morales won 6-1 against Cincinnati’s top duo. Their match against Middle Tennessee went unfinished.
 
ETSU is next in action on Feb. 22 when the Bucs welcome Lipscomb.
