SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNC Greensboro’s Nadine Soliman has been named the Southern Conference women’s basketball player of the week presented by GEICO for games played Feb. 11-17. The award is selected by the league office.

The senior guard scored a game-high 26 points in the Spartans’ lone contest of the week, a 72-61 win at Western Carolina on Feb. 15. Soliman, a native of Cairo, Egypt, went 9-for-18 from the floor and 6-for-6 from the free-throw line, pulling down six rebounds and adding three assists and a steal in the win that moved the Spartans into a tie for first in the conference standings.

Soliman leads the league in scoring, averaging 17.3 points per game. The preseason all-conference selection is also top-10 in the league in rebounding, field-goal percentage, free-throw percentage, 3-point field-goal percentage and 3-pointers made. Soliman becomes the second league player to be recognized as the player of the week three times this season.

After three straight road games, UNCG (18-7, 7-3 SoCon) returns to Fleming Gymnasium to host Wofford (14-12, 7-4) on Thursday, Feb. 20, before welcoming Furman (16-10, 6-5) on Saturday.
