MOREHEAD, Ky. – The VMI women’s rifle team lost a close match against host Morehead State at the Button Rifle Range on Saturday.

Morehead State earned 4665 total aggregate points for the win. The VMI women earned 4412 total aggregate points on the day.

For smallbore competition, sophomores Jessica Hankin and Samantha Reid had a great showing for VMI earning 546 points each for respective 11^th and 12^th place finishes. Savanah Diamond placed 13^th with 542 points, Claire Lee earned a 14^th place finish with 531 points, and Cassidy Dufour placed 15^th with 516 smallbore points.

In air rifle competition, Hankin earned a top ten finish among individuals with 571 points. Claire Lee would earn a 12^th place finish with 560 points, with Samantha Reid and Savanah Diamond earning 558 points for 13^th and 14^th place finishes, respectively. Lauren Dost (15^th) and Sarah Robertson (16^th) rounded out the VMI air rifle representation with 555 and 547 points, respectively.

The VMI rifle teams will travel to Morgantown, West Virginia to face West Virginia and North Georgia on February 22^nd in an NCAA Qualifier match.
