Boca Raton, Fla. – Sophomore Madison Isaacson closed Western Carolina's first event of the spring season with a 4-over par round of 76 on Tuesday, pacing the Catamounts to an 11th-place overall team finish by placing amongst a seven-way tie for 35th overall with a three-round score of 920 at the FAU Winter Warmup held at the par-72, 6,017-yard Osprey Point Golf Club.
 
The 11th-place finish was the lowest team output by the Catamounts in 2019-20 as WCU posted five, top 10 finishes through the fall including four finishes inside the team top five through its opening five events. WCU finished just two strokes in arrears of 10th-place Columbia (918).
 
Isaacson slipped five spots in the final standings despite matching her second-round tally of 76. Opening on the par-5 ninth on Tuesday, Isaacson finished with two bogeys and one double-bogey against 15 pars. The Greensboro, N.C., native carded three birdies over the 54-hole tournament with a combined 39 pars, tied for the fifth-most in the tournament.
 
WCU's first-round leader, freshman Victoria Ladd, bounced through her final round with six bogeys for an 8-over par 80, sliding into a three-way tie for 45th overall. She was followed by junior Maya White in a two-way tie for 51st, back one spot on Tuesday after shooting 4-over par 76 over the final round for a three-round tally of 233.
 
Rounding out the Catamount scoring five were freshman Bailee Twiford, who slid into a two-way tie for 57th after shooting 83 on Tuesday, and senior Brianna Plummer who advanced six spots in the final order into 60th with her best round of the event at 3-over par, 75. Five birdies over her first 15 holes in the third round left the Shelby, N.C., product even-par with three to play. However, a triple-bogey on the par-4 seventh pushed her tally to 3-over for the round. Plummer recovered to par the final two holes of her tournament on the par-3 eighth and par-5 ninth.
 
All told, WCU finished fifth overall with 167 pars combined as a team with just 21 total birdies. Plummer led WCU with eight birdies at the event with White carding five.
 
Playing unattached as an individual, junior Hazel Martin came home in 64th overall with a three-round score of 241 (80-80-81). Martin finished with four birdies.
 
Tied for the individual top spot after 36 holes, Ami Gianchandani of Yale posted a 1-under par round of 71 on Tuesday to edge Seton Hall's Mia Kness by one stroke, 214-to-215, to claim individual medalist honors. Kness fired an even-par final round to slip into the runner-up spot, one stroke ahead of second runner-up Angela Zi Lan Zhang of Dartmouth College (216).
 
Placing four of its scoring five inside the individual top 10 including a pair in the top five, Arkansas State rallied to the team championship, overtaking first-round leader Seton Hall to cruise to the three-stroke victory, 878-to-881. Led by the medalist, Gianchandani, Yale vaulted three spots into third-place overall at 889 with Dartmouth (895) and tournament host Florida Atlantic (897) rounding out the top five.
 
Western Carolina women's golf returns to action March 1-3 at the Kiawah Island Classic. The three-day, 54-hole event hosted by the College of Charleston features 18 holes per day at the Kiawah Island Resort in Kiawah Island, S.C.
