SoCon Wrestling Championship moved to Feb. 28, 2021

Appalachian State remains as host through 2024

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Southern Conference Wrestling Championship will move up a weekend to Feb. 28, 2021, the league office announced Monday. The league’s directors of athletics voted to approve the change.

The tournament will still be hosted by Appalachian State at the Holmes Center in Boone, North Carolina, for the third straight year, and remain in Boone through 2024.

The decision to move the championships from March 6 to late February was made as a COVID-19 precaution to allow more time between the SoCon and Division I NCAA championships, the latter of which is scheduled for March 18-20 at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis. There will now be two open weekends and 18 total days between the conference and NCAA tournaments.

Enhanced COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place for the wrestling championships. More details about the protocols will be announced at a later date.
