LOUISVILLE, Ky. – UNCG Greensboro senior guard Isaiah Miller was named to the Wade Houston All-Tournament Team, a season-opening multi-team event played in Louisville’s KFC Yum! Center, Friday morning.
Miller made the most of his time on the floor during UNCG’s three games against Little Rock, Winthrop, and Duquesne. The 6-foot guard from Covington, Georgia, led the Spartans in scoring with a 21.7 point-per-game average. He was efficient as he shot 58.0 percent (29-for-50) from the field.
After his complete all-around performance, Miller is ranked among the SoCon leaders in four categories. He’s tied for third in scoring and steals, tied for seventh in assists per game and 10th in field-goal percentage.
He scored 24 points in a season-opening victory over Little Rock. Miller finished by scoring 19 points against Winthrop and 22 against Duquesne.
In the game against Duquesne, Miller moved past RJ White and into ninth place on the UNCG all-time scoring list. In scoring at least 20 points in a game for the 23rd time in his career, Miller upped his career scoring total to 1,475 points. Miller has scored in double figures in five straight games and 21 of UNCG's last 22 contests dating back to last season.
Miller started the season with a five-steal performance against Little Rock. He had nine steals during the tournament to move into a tie for fifth place all-time on the Southern Conference list with 250 with Davidson's David Rucker. The sixth player in SoCon history with at least 250 career steals, Miller is second in steals among NCAA active career leaders.
This was the latest accolade for the decorated Miller, who was named to the Lou Henson Award preseason watch list earlier in the week. He was named the SoCon Preseason Player of the Year.
