SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford’s Myron Gordon has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week presented by GEICO for all contests from Dec. 8-14 after scoring a career-high 29 points in a close loss at Georgia on Saturday. The award is selected by the league office.
Gordon scored 17 of his points in the second half as the Bulldogs nearly pulled off the upset of their SEC foe, leading for the majority of the game and not allowing Georgia in front until 1:17 remained in the 79-75 setback. He was also 7-for-9 from the free-throw line and added three rebounds, three assists and a steal.
The redshirt senior from Bordentown, New Jersey, is the SoCon’s leading scorer at 22.7 points per game this season.
