Commish Chat is a series of one-on-one interviews between Southern Conference Commissioner Jim Schaus and various student-athletes, coaches, administrators, media members and more as they discuss SoCon athletics and issues that affect college athletics on a broader scale.

Episode 4's guest is Mercer sophomore safety Lance Wise. The reigning Stats Perform FCS Co-Player of the Week, Wise had a career-best 20 tackles in the Bears' 20-17 loss to Abilene Christian on Saturday.

Schaus and Wise discuss Wise's career day, the effect of COVID on the Mercer football team, balancing academics and athletics, and what playing in the SoCon means to Wise.
