GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman redshirt-senior Tierra Hodges has been named as one of 25 student-athletes to the preseason watch list for the 2021 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award.
Hodges is the only player from the Southern Conference to be named to the preseason watch list which is made up of players from 23 teams and 15 conferences.
The Covington, Ga. native returns as the leading scorer for the Paladins in 2020-21. She averaged a double-double of 11.9 points and 10.4 rebounds per game last season while being named First Team All-SoCon by the media and Second Team by the league’s coaches. Hodges led Furman in rebounding and was second in scoring. Among conference teams, she ranked first in rebounding and 14
th in scoring.
Hodges scored 10 or more points in 22 games last season and pulled down double-digit rebounds 19 times. She scored a career-high 21 points in a home win over Georgia State and, in the regular season finale, grabbed a career-best 18 rebounds versus Wofford. Hodges also dished out a career-high seven assists during a road win at Gardner-Webb. She was tabbed SoCon Player of the Week three times and SoCon Player of the Month once.
In January, 15 players will be named to the midseason watch list. The 10 semifinalists will be announced in February, with five finalists being announced in early March. The winner will be announced in late March.
