Former SoCon players showed out in Week 4 of the NFL season, tallying up eight solo tackles, one pass defended, a touchdown and a fumble recovery.
The San Francisco 49ers’ Jerick McKinnon (Georgia Southern) made his 2020 Sunday Night Football debut in style with personalized cleats as he scored a touchdown for the fourth straight week. McKinnon powered through the Eagles’ defense and ran the ball into the endzone on third-and-goal, putting up another six for San Francisco.
The former Georgia Southern running back isn’t camera shy, as he showed off his pregame poses with 49ers offensive assistant coach Katie Sowers.
McKinnon has racked up a total of 193 rushing yards in the first four weeks of the season, leading to the 49ers being the only team with two running back who have over 100 rushing yards this season.
Teammate Jaquiski Tartt (Samford) also made his Sunday Night Football debut against the Eagles with three solo tackles and one pass defended. In one key play by Tartt, he sprinted across the line of scrimmage for a 12-yard tackle for loss.
Buster Skrine (Chattanooga) and the Chicago Bears lost their first game of the season, 19-11 to the Colts. Skrine made two solo tackles as he continues to dominate the defense.
Matt Breida (Georgia Southern) had a season-high three receptions for 39 yards in Miami’s 31-23 loss to the Seahawks. One of Breida’s three receptions was for 26 yards for a Dolphins first down.
James Bradberry (Samford) dove for the ball on defense and recovered a fumble in the Giants’ 17-9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Bradberry continues to be a driving force for New York’s defense as the Giants prepare for their first NFC East opponent, Dallas, in Week 5.
Andre Roberts (The Citadel) gave Buffalo great field position when he returned a punt 38 yards in a 30-23 win over the Raiders, to the delight of the Bills’ bench. Some might say Roberts had his teammates hype!
