The Citadel cross country teams take home second

The Bulldogs men's and women's cross country teams both finished second at the Koala XC Classic

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Citadel men's and women's cross country teams each finished second at the Koala XC Classic hosted by Columbia College Saturday morning.

Race: Koala XC Challenge
Location: Par Tee Golf Course (Columbia, S.C.)
Men's Distance: 8,000 meters (8K)
Women's Distance: 6,000 meters (6K)
 
Men's Race
  • Andrew Smith finished with a time of 25:42.6 to place 10th. The time ranks as the 10th-fastest 8K in program history.
  • Will Ray ran the 24th-fastest time in program history with a time of 26:08.0. The time was good enough for 10th place.
  • Ty Duben finished right behind Ray with a time of 26:13.5.
  • Devon Heisler and Bryce Baglia also finished in the top 20. Heisler placed 16th with a time of 27:07.6 and Baglia was 18th with a time of 27:21.1.
  • Freshman Robert Perrecone placed 22nd with a time 27:40.3
 
Women's Race
  • The Bulldog women placed four runners in the Top 10.
  • Heidi Fortin ran the second-fastest 6K in program history to finish third with a time of 22:54.3.
  • Gabby Shea also set a personal best as she ran a 23:55.9, the 10th fastest time in school history.
  • Shea was the first of three-straight finishes for the Bulldogs. She was followed by Casey Miller (23:58.1) and Grace Wolfe with a personal-best time of 23:58.8.
  • Amber Opp was the fifth score for the Bulldogs, placing 15th with a time of 24:41.9.
